Frequently asked questions

Do I need to let my nails breathe?

No, you don't.  Doug Schoon, Nail Scientist Extraordinaire explains why:

There is no reason to belive that nails need to 'breathe'.  Nails aren't alive and don't have lungs nor do they have any ability to absorb air into the nail plate.  This myth makes no sense on many levels! In short, nails do NOT require an external air supply and do not breathe or exhale.  100% of the oxygen need by the nail matrix to create a new nail plate comes from the blood stream and 0% comes from the outside world

How often should I have my gel polish reapplied?

The gel polish system requires removal and re-application every 14 days.  Some clients are able to last 3-4 weeks but we recommend 14 days to ensure there is no added stress to the nail.

How often should I have a massage?

Having a regular massage at least once per month can help prevent pain, muscle tension and build up of stress.  By waitig until there is a problem, you will incur more treatment and expense.

How often should I have my lashes infilled?

The Lash Cycle:

Each person has between 90-120 natural lashes per upper eyelid.

Each eye sheds between 2-3 natural lashes per day.

This means you will lose, on average:

1 week - 21 lashes

2 weeks - 42 lashes

3 weeks - 63 lashes

Lash infills should be done no later than 3 weeks, any longer and a new set would normally be required.

Why do I need a patch test?

'A patch test is a method used to determine whether a specific substance causes allergic inflammation of a clients skin'

Besides your safety, comfort and well being as a client, patch testing is an insurance requirement.

The following are treatments at Harringtons where a patch test is required:

Eyelash Tint, Eyebrow Tint, Lash Extensions and all Hair Colour Services

How often should I have an Eyelash or Eyebrow Tint?

As the tint fades, we recommend every 6-8 weeks but you are able to have it done sooner i.e. every 4 weeks.

Can I put shoes on after a Pedicure?

If you have a pedicure and your toes are painted with regular style polish then no you won't be able to as the polish will not be dry enough, so will most definitely smudge!

If you have a CND Shellac Pedicure, then feel free to pop those gorgeous toes in any footwear.  Yay for CND Shellac!
